An Evening with Katie Jenifer

November 17, 2021

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Parents of transgender children, like most parents, simply want to do what is best for their children. Yet, knowing your child faces legal discrimination creates feelings of fear, helplessness, and sadness — experiences unfortunately faced by many Missouri parents.  Our last legislative session saw an unprecedented number of bills targeting transgender youth. To paraphrase a local parent, their child's biggest bully is the Missouri state legislature.

One North Carolina parent who has dedicated her life to protecting trans children is Katie Jenifer. When her transgender daughter, Maddie, was repeatedly ostracized by both her school and community, Katie decided that Maddie needed a legal advocate in her corner. But rather than hiring a lawyer, the mother of two decided to become one at the age of 45.

NCJWSTL and PROMO are excited to welcome Katie Jenifer for a special evening to learn about her remarkable journey to become one of the country's fiercest advocates, not only for Maddie, but for LGBTQ+ children everywhere. You will not want to miss this special event! The event is free to attend, but registration is required.  For questions or more information, please email Jen Bernstein.
