A faith in the future. A belief in action.

NCJW has been meeting the needs of St. Louis women, children, and families since 1895.  Pioneering the public school milk program, the Scholarship Foundation, Victim’s Service Council, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of St. Louis County, and Legal Advocates for Abused Women, we have seen these and other NCJW community service projects become vital social programs and agencies of their own.  Our current projects, listed below, continue this legacy.  Click here to view past projects.  To contact us about volunteering or to learn more, click here.

Back-To-School! Store™
This one-day event allows deserving children to “shop” for new clothing, school supplies, and personal care items at a one-day store opened each August, and builds self-esteem and excitement for children heading back to school.  Click here for more information. Click here to volunteer.

Jewish Food Pantry
Compassionate volunteers greet clients, discuss problems, and make referrals to social services.

Kids Community Closet
Kids Community Closet, an extension of the Back-to-School! StoreTM,  delivers brand-new clothing, coats, school supplies, etc. directly to qualified children right at their schools.  This means that NCJW can serve hundreds or potentially thousands more students each year.  We will meet the evolving needs of the children as the seasons change and they outgrow their clothes. Luncheons for the Blind
Since 1923, this program provides lunch, transportation, and companionship for visually impaired women six times each year.
Mentor St. Louis
NCJW collaborates with the St. Louis Public Schools to provide one-on-one mentoring of elementary school children.
Oral History
A trained volunteer preserves family histories for future generations through taped interviews with family members.

Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood
For this project, trained volunteers provide options counseling to women with troubled pregnancies at this private clinic.

Wife-Widow-Woman
This support group is available to women of all ages, races, and religions who have been widowed.  The program is led by a professional social worker teamed with a widow who has been through the program and trained as a leader.
